CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The IU Southeast men's basketball team fell to Campbellsville University (Ky.) 78-66 on Saturday.
IU Southeast's first four points were scored by
Lane Lauderbaugh as the two teams traded baskets early in the contest. Campbellsville used a 5-0 run to take a 17-10 lead in the first half. Campbellsville took a 22-15 lead with just over eight minutes left in the half, and that score would hold until
Jocobi Hendricks hit a three for IU Southeast.
A
Lane Lauderbaugh layup followed by a
Caleb Brown three gave IU Southeast a 23-22 lead. After a Campbellsville basket,
Caleb Brown hit another three to give the Grenadiers the lead back at 26-24. The Tigers used a 5-0 run to take a 29-26 lead, but IU Southeast was able to tie the score once more at 29-29. Campbellsville led 33-31 at the half.
Campbellsville hit a three to open the second half, but IU Southeast used a 6-0 run to swing the lead back in their favor at 37-36. Campbellsville was able to take the lead back and extend their advantage to four at 46-42, but IU Southeast responded with a three by
Lane Lauderbaugh to cut the Grenadier deficit to one once more.
After Campbellsville extended their lead to 49-45, IU Southeast used a 5-0 run to take a 50-49 advantage. With the Grenadiers up 52-51, the Tigers responded with a 7-0 run to take a 58-52 lead. IU Southeast was able to cut the deficit to four, but Campbellsville answered back to take a double-digit lead. The Tigers would go on to defeat IU Southeast 78-66.
Lane Lauderbaugh led the way for the Grenadiers with 23 points and eight rebounds.
Jocobi Hendricks had 14 points and a team-high five assists.
Richard Lang had a double-double for IU Southeast, scoring 11 points and pulling down a team-high 12 rebounds.
IU Southeast (1-3) returns to action Tuesday for a road contest against No. 5 Georgetown.
