OAKLAND CITY, Ind. - The IU Southeast softball team swept Oakland City in a doubleheader on Saturday. The Grenadiers won game one 12-5 and game two 9-1

The Grenadiers scored first in game one. Macie Zink singled to drive in Savannah Gaither in the top of the second inning, giving IU Southeast a 1-0 lead. Oakland City answered with a home run in the bottom of the second to tie the game 1-1.

Katie Templeman singled in the top of the fourth, driving in Brynlea Bennett and Macie Zink to give IU Southeast a 3-1 lead. Oakland City once again answered, scoring two runs in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game 3-3.

Kendall Brown gave IU Southeast a 4-3 lead in the top of the sixth with an RBI double to score Katie Templeman. Autumn Oehlstrom followed with a double of her own to drive in Kendall Brown to make it 5-3 Grenadiers. Savannah Gaither drove in Alaina Winzeler with an RBI single to extend the Grenadier advantage to 6-3.

IU Southeast took an 8-3 lead in the seventh when two runs scored on a Kendall Brown batted ball to shortstop. Cassi Roman drove in a run on a fielder's choice to make it 9-3. Another IU Southeast runner scored when Savannah Gaither reached first base and advanced to second on an error, making it 10-3. Macie Zink singled home two more runs to make it 12-3 Grenadiers.

Oakland City scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh, but IU Southeast secured a 12-5 game one victory. Madison Wathen started and pitched the first four innings and recorded her 100th strikeout of the season, and Hannah Nunemaker pitched the final three innings to pick up the victory for IU Southeast.

Macie Zink and Savannah Gaither led the Grenadiers with three hits apiece. Macie Zink and Kendall Brown each drove in three runs in the win. Kendall Brown, Autumn Oehlstrom, Savannah Gaither, and Taylor Hoggatt all doubled for IU Southeast. Katie Templeman stole two bases, and Savannah Gaither added a steal as well.

IU Southeast scored first in game two. Savannah Gaither came through once again, delivering a two RBI single in the top of the first. Macie Zink followed with an RBI sacrifice fly to make it 3 0 IU Southeast.

Oakland City scored a run in the bottom of the second to make it 3-1, but IU Southeast responded in the third. Macie Zink singled home Cassi Roman to make it 4-1 Grenadiers.

Kendall Brown delivered an RBI single in the top of the fourth to make it 5-1. Erin Templeman brought home a run in the top of the seventh, and Katie Templeman followed with a 2 RBI single to make it 8-1. Issy Wright added an RBI to make it 9-1 IU Southeast, and Brooklyn Gibbs slammed the door in the bottom of the seventh to secure the 9-1 victory for the Grenadiers.

Brooklyn Gibbs threw a complete game in game two, allowing only three hits in seven innings. Savannah Gaither led IU Southeast with three hits. Savannah Gaither, Macie Zink, and Katie Templeman all drove in two runs apiece. Cassi Roman and Savannah Gaither each doubled in game two, and Issy Wright had the lone IU Southeast stolen base.

With the two wins, IU Southeast improved their record to 23-13 overall and 16-4 in RSC play. The Grenadiers return to action on Wednesday at home against IUPUC.
