IU Southeast Hands Point Park First Loss of Season

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast men's basketball team used 41 points from Jocobi Hendricks en route to handing Point Park their first loss of the season. The 82-77 victory for IU Southeast snapped Point Park's 14-game winning streak, which was tied for the longest in the NAIA.
 
IU Southeast jumped out to a 12-5 lead early in the first half on a Lane Lauderbaugh layup. The Grenadiers extended their lead to nine at 18-9 on an Ethan Haddaway layup. Leading 20-13, IU Southeast used a 6-0 run to take a 26-13 lead.
 
Point Park was able to cut the Grenadier lead to five at 33-28, but Jocobi Hendricks hit back-to-back jumpers to give IU Southeast a 37-28 advantage. IU Southeast went into halftime with a 39-32 lead.
 
After a Jocobi Hendricks jumper made it 41-32, Point Park scored five straight points to cut the Grenadier lead to 41-37. After IU Southeast extended their advantage to eight at 45-37, Point Park used a 6-0 run to narrow the deficit to two at 45-43.
 
Point Park tied the game at 49-49 and took their first lead of the game at 52-51. The teams traded one-point leads until IU Southeast scored two straight baskets to take a 59-56 edge. Jocobi Hendricks extended the Grenadier lead to 64-58 on a three, but Point Park responded with a three of their own to make it 64-61.
 
A Jocobi Hendricks free throw followed by a Jaden Johnson layup gave IU Southeast a 67-61 edge. Point Park answered with a 7-0 run to swing the lead back in their favor at 68-67. J.J. Reed connected on a pair of free throws to give IU Southeast a 69-68 advantage.
 
After a Point Park layup, Jocobi Hendricks connected on a three to give IU Southeast a 72-70 lead. J.J. Reed followed with a three of his own to extend the Grenadier lead to five. Point Park hit a layup to cut the lead to three, but Jocobi Hendricks hit another three to give IU Southeast a 78-72 edge.
 
Point Park answered with a three of their own, but Jocobi Hendricks connected on a jumper to give IU Southeast a five-point edge at 80-75 with 21 seconds remaining. Point Park hit a layup to cut it to three once more, but Lane Lauderbaugh hit two free throws to clinch an 82-77 IU Southeast win.
 
Jocobi Hendricks had 41 points, five assists, five steals, and four rebounds in the victory. Lane Lauderbaugh had 14 points and eight rebounds, and J.J. Reed added 13 points and seven rebounds. Ethan Haddaway had eight points and eight rebounds.
 
IU Southeast (7-7, 3-3 RSC) travels to Ohio Christian on Tuesday.
