GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The IU Southeast men's basketball team fell to No. 7 Georgetown 79-62 on Thursday.
The offenses got off to a slow start as Georgetown led 6-0 five minutes into the game. IU Southeast answered with an 8-0 run to make it 8-6. IU Southeast led by four after a jumper by
Harrison Raisor. With a 14-12 lead, IU Southeast used a 6-2 run to extend their lead to six at 20-14.
With IU Southeast ahead 22-16, a 7-0 Georgetown run gave the Tigers a 23-22 lead. The teams went back and forth, and the Tigers led 31-29 with 1:36 left in the half. A
Caleb Brown three gave the Grenadiers a 32-31 edge, but it was Georgetown who led 35-32 at the half.
Georgetown extended their lead to seven at 43-36 early in the second half. A 5-0 run by
Lane Lauderbaugh made it 43-41, but Georgetown answered with a three to extend their advantage to 46-41.
Another three gave Georgetown an eight-point lead at 51-43. The Tigers extended their lead to 11 at 58-47 with 9:44 left. Back-to-back baskets allowed IU Southeast to cut the lead to six at 58-52. After a made free throw by Georgetown, a jumper by IU Southeast made it 59-54.
Georgetown answered with an 11-2 run to take a 70-56 advantage. Georgetown would pull away late to win 79-62.
"Tough loss," IU Southeast head coach
Wiley Brown said. "We got beat by a really good team. I'm proud of my team. They played very hard, but the game is not won in the first half. We took bad shots and turned the ball over. Good teams will make you pay for mistakes. We got better tonight. We just have to put two halves together."
Lane Lauderbaugh had a team-high 12 points and five rebounds.
Camden Pfeister and
Harrison Raisor had 11 points and eight points off the bench, respectively.

Trent Hinkle each had two steals.
IU Southeast returns to action on November 14 against No. 18 Cumberlands.
