KOKOMO, Ind. –
Jocobi Hendricks had 28 points but it was not enough as IU Kokomo pulled away late and defeated IU Southeast 75-65 on Saturday.
The IU Kokomo offense was clicking early and the Cougars jumped out to a 27-12 lead 11 minutes into the game.
After a Hunter Jackson jumper extended the lead to 37-21, IU Southeast closed the half on a 10-2 run to trail 39-31 at halftime.
Ethan Haddaway had four of the final six points of the half for IU Southeast.
Jocobi Hendricks had 17 of his 28 points in the first half for the Grenadiers.
The Grenadiers scored 15 of the first 21 points in the second half to come all the way back and take a 46-45 lead. A
Lane Lauderbaugh layup put IU Southeast in front.
After the Cougars took back the lead,
Nolan Davenport tied the game with a three-pointer but Hunter Jackson answered with a three of his own.
The Cougars used a 10-2 run to pull away. Consecutive layups by Max New man and Hunter Jackson capped the run and extended the lead to 61-53.
A three-pointer by Max Newman sealed the win with three minutes to play as the Cougars took a 68-57 lead.
Jocobi Hendricks had 28 points and three steals in the loss while
Lane Lauderbaugh had 10 points and eight rebounds.
IU Southeast heads to IU East Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
