HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The IU Southeast softball team's season ended on Wednesday as the Grenadiers fell to Stillman 4-1 in the NAIA Softball Opening Round.
IU Southeast put two on with two out in the bottom of the first and the bottom of the third, but Stillman was able to escape both jams to keep the game scoreless.
With the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the fourth,
Brynlea Bennett laced a single right back up the middle to give IU Southeast a 1-0 lead.
Madison Wathen had a no hitter until the top of the sixth inning. After two walks, Stillman used a bunt hit to load the bases. Stillman was able to score four runs to take a 4-1 lead.
The Grenadiers put a runner on second in the seventh but were unable to score as Stillman secured a 4-1 win.
Madison Wathen allowed two earned runs on two hits in five innings of work.
Hallie Foley came in and threw two innings in relief.
Autumn Oehlstrom had two hits including a double.
Brynlea Bennett drove in the only run for the Grenadiers.
IU Southeast finishes their season 35-18.
