NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast men's basketball team fell to Brescia 84-71 on Saturday.
IU Southeast lead 10-6 four minutes into the game. Brescia responded with a 5-0 run to take an 11-10 lead. The Bearcats extended their lead to four at 16-12, but a layup by
Trent Hinkle and a three by
Caleb Brown gave IU Southeast a 17-16 lead.
Brescia responded with back-to-back layups to take a 20-17 advantage. IU Southeast came back to tie the game at 24-24, but a three by Brescia put the Bearcats ahead 27-24.
A three by
Nathaniel Hoffman tied the game at 29-29, but a three by Brescia gave the Bearcats a 32-29 lead. Brescia extended their lead to seven at 36-29.
IU Southeast cut the Bearcat lead to three at 36-33, but Brescia responded with a 5-0 run to take a 41-33 advantage. Brescia led 43-37 at the half.
Brescia opened the second half with back-to-back threes to take a 49-37 edge. Brescia maintained a double-digit lead until a
Lane Lauderbaugh three cut the Grenadier deficit to nine at 59-50.
Brescia extended their lead back to 12 at 64-52. The Bearcat lead extended to 68-54, but an 8-0 run by IU Southeast cut the lead to six at 68-62.
Brescia responded with a 6-0 run to extend their lead back at 12 at 74-62 with 5:13 left. IU Southeast cut the lead to 10 but could not get any closer as Brescia would go on to win 84-71.
"We got outplayed, outcoached, outworked, out everything," IU Southeast head coach
Wiley Brown said. "We got what we deserved. Back to the lab!"
Ethan Haddaway tied for the team-lead with 14 points and added six rebounds and three blocks.
Nathaniel Hoffman also added 14 points.
Lane Lauderbaugh added 11 points, which put him over 1,000 career points.
Xavier Price had nine points, four rebounds, and a team-high three assists.
Eli Meyer had four points and a team-high seven rebounds.
IU Southeast (5-8, 2-2 RSC) returns to action on Tuesday for a home contest against IU Columbus.
