NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast women's basketball team cruised to a 78-40 win over Miami-Middletown on Tuesday.
 
IU Southeast jumped ahead early, but Miami-Middletown battled back to make it a three-point game at 12-9. IU Southeast closed the first quarter on a 6-1 run to take an 18-10 lead into the second quarter.
 
The Grenadiers opened the second quarter on a 10-2 run to extend their lead to 30-12. IU Southeast led 38-15 at the half.
 
A 15-3 run by IU Southeast to open the third quarter made it 53-18. The Grenadiers led 59-24 at the end of three.
 
IU Southeast would go on to win 78-40.
 
All 11 active IU Southeast players scored in the game. Linzie Wernert had a team-high 18 points on 9-12 from the field. Grace Stapleton had 17 points on 6-9 shooting, including 5-7 from three. Jesse Ledgerwood added 15 points, eight assists, four steals and two blocks. Jericho Hopper and Taylor Treat tied for the team lead with seven rebounds apiece.
 
"A win is a win and we will take as many as those as we can get," IU Southeast head coach Abby Downard said. "It was good to see us play all 11 healthy bodies. Excited to build on what we have. Back to work tomorrow!"
 
IU Southeast moves to 2-0 on the season. The Grenadiers return to action on Friday as they hit the road to take on No. 3 Campbellsville.
