SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. - IU Southeast volleyball lost their second RSC road game in as many days Saturday, falling 3-0 at Saint Mary of the Woods.
Carly Mason led IU Southeast in assists (26) and digs (13). Natalie Pierce had nine kills while Nicole Stratford and Raegan Glover had eight kills each. Stratford and Pierce also had one serving ace each.
Following Saturday's result, IU Southeast drops to 6-11 (3-2 RSC). The Grenadiers will be back in action on Friday when they travel to Beckley, W.Va., for a 7:00 p.m. match against WVU-Tech.
Set 1: SMWC 25, IU Southeast 17
The Pomeroys jumped out to an early 12-3 lead in set one. IU Southeast made up a bit of ground after going on a 10-6 run, but SMWC pulled away for good with a 4-0 run to go back up nine. SMWC went onto win set one 25-17 and go up 1-0 in the match.
Set 2: SMWC 27, IU Southeast 25
The Grenadiers bounced back early in set two, scoring ten of the first 17 points. SMWC, just like in set one, used a big run and took the lead. This time, the Pomeroys' run was a 14-4 run that put them up 21-14. The Grenadiers battled back, going on an 11-3 run to take the lead late. Despite the comeback, SMWC rattled off three straight points to close out the set.
Set 3: SMWC 25, IU Southeast 16
SMWC continued their momentum into set three by scoring ten of the first 14 points of the set. IU Southeast was unable to make up the ground lost from early in set three and lost the set 25-16, and lost the match 3-0.
