NEW ALBANY, Ind. –
Linzie Wernert had the third triple-double in IU Southeast women's basketball history as IU Southeast defeated Kentucky Christian 103-60 on Senior Day.
Linzie Wernert had 19 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists in the win. Senior
Jesse Ledgerwood had 22 points and four steals while
Morgan Roberts had a game-high 27 points on 10-of-19 shooting off the bench.
Grace Stapleton had 12 points, eight assists and five rebounds and
Ella Brown had 10 points and seven rebounds.
"This was a special day today for our seniors," head coach Abby Downard said. "I am really grateful for not only what they have done for our program but the people they have become. I am very blessed to coach them even for a short time. I thogut hwe had a great team win today."
The Grenadiers took a 17-10 lead with 4:49 to play in the first on a three by Roberts. Consecutive layups by Wernert extended the lead to double-figures and a three by Roberts late in the quarter gave IU Southeast a 32-18 lead at the end of the period.
Jesse Ledgerwood had 15 of the Grenadiers' 25 points in the second quarter and was 5-of-8 from the field in the quarter. IU Southeast led 51-30 at halftime.
The Grenadiers outscored the Knights 31-9 in the third quarter, holding Kentucky Christian to 4-of-17 shooting.
Morgan Roberts had 10 of her 27 points in the third.
Every Grenadier who entered scored in the contest. IU Southeast finished the day shooting 56 percent from the field and 41 percent from three-point range.
IU Southeast hosts IU Columbus Tuesday at 6 p.m.
