NEW ALBANY, Ind. - The IU Southeast men's tennis team won 7-0 over the Shawnee State Bears Saturday afternoon.
Trey Gutgsell and Brennan Cooper opened the doubles matches with a 6-2 win over Esteban Rivera and Robin Baransi. The Grenadiers secured the doubles team point after Elijah Brosmer and DJ Hall won 6-0 over Alonso Salinas and Aiden Pine.
Gutgsell opened the singles matches with a comeback win over Baransi. Baransi took the first set 6-3, then Gutgsell won set two 6-4. Gutgsell secured the team point with a 6-2 win in set three. Paxton Evitts followed Gutgsell's win with a 6-3, 6-3 win. Brosmer put the Grenadiers ahead 3-0 in the match with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Pine.
IU Southeast secured the match after Hall won 6-2, 6-2 over Salinas. Connor Critchfield won 6-0, 6-0, then Jacob Campbell won via forfeit and the Grenadiers won the match 7-0.
IU Southeast improved to 4-5 (1-1 RSC) following today's win over the Bears. The Grenadiers will be back in action Sunday at 12:00 p.m. for a home match against the Oakland City Mighty Oaks.
