IU Southeast Offense Outlasts RedStorm In Doubleheader Sweep

IRONTON, Ohio – The IU Southeast baseball team swept a doubleheader from Rio Grande 16-3 and 20-17 on Friday.
 
Game one highlights:
 
  • Bryson Arnette opened the scoring with a three-run home run.
  • Gabe Yonto hit a solo HR and two doubles, scored three times and drove in a pair
  • Trevor Goodwin hit a two-run home run in the third as part of a four-run inning.
  • Coulter Hamilton drove in two with a single in fifth, one of his three hits.
  • Luca Sandrella worked five innings, allowing three runs on three hits while striking out five for his first win.
  • IU Southeast scored 16 runs on 21 hits.
 
Game two highlights:
 
  • Trevor Goodwin hit a three-run home run and Arnette added a solo shot to opening the scorng in the first.
  • After a RBI double by Goodwin in the second, Arnette followed with a two-run home to extend the lead to 8-3.
  • Caden Lockwood drove in a pair with a single to extend the lead to 11-5 in fourth.
  • Rio Grande tied the game with a six-run fourth, IU Southeast answered with three in the fifth. Nick Johnson drove in one with a groundout and Matt Santana scored two with a single.
  • Yonto hit a solo home run to right in the seventh to extend the lead to 19-13. His second of the day. The RedStorm scored four times in the bottom of the inning but Alston Whitworth shut the door for his first save.
  • Bryson Arnette was 4-for-5 with three runs scored and three RBI. Trevor Goodwin drove in four and scored four times.
 
The series concludes with a nine-inning game tomorrow at 10 a.m. weather permitting.
