FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IU Southeast women's tennis team wrapped up the regular season with a couple of road wins over IU Kokomo and the University of Saint Francis (Ind.) on Friday.
With Friday's wins, the Grenadiers finish the regular season with a record of 13-5 (4-2 RSC). IU Southeast's next outing will be at the 2026 River States Conference Women's Tennis Tournament.
Game 1: IU Southeast 6, IU Kokomo 1
Libby Banet and Kate Halbig opened up doubles play with a 6-0 victory. IU Kokomo tied the doubles score with a narrow, 7-6 win. Reece Smith and Elena Hamby secured the doubles team point with a 6-3 win to put the Grenadiers up 1-0 in the team score.
Banet was defeated 4-6 in set one, but secured another team point with back-to-back 6-2 wins in sets two and three. Maci Vaughn was defeated 3-6, 1-6, but Halbig got the Grenadiers back up 3-1 in the team score with a 6-3, 6-3 win. Eva Ellis secured the match for the Grenadiers with a 6-0, 6-1 win. Hamby and Anellah Trujillo won their singles matches and the Grenadiers won 6-1.
Game 2: IU Southeast 6, University of Saint Francis 1
Banet and Hamby picked up where they left off with a dominant, 6-2 doubles team victory. Vaughn and Ellis secured the team point with a 6-1 win.
Banet fell in the first singles match, but that was the only point USF would score. Vaughn won 6-0, 6-1 to put IU Southeast back ahead in the team score. Ellis won 6-1, 6-1, then Hamby secured the match for the Grenadiers with a 6-2, 6-0 win. Trujillo won 6-2, 6-0, and Smith won as well, and the Grenadiers won 6-1.
