KOKOMO, Ind. - After clinching the 2026 River States Conference regular season championship Saturday, IU Southeast baseball capped off the regular season with a 3-2 win over IU Kokomo Sunday afternoon. 

After sweeping a doubleheader on Saturday, the Grenadiers' offense got going early. Kevin Moore drew a one-out walk, then advanced to second after Bryson Arnette was hit by a pitch on a full count. Coulter Hamilton gave the Grenadiers the lead during the next at-bat with a single to center field.  

The Cougars tied the game up in the bottom of the third, but the Grenadiers retook the lead one frame after. Hamilton drew a one-out walk, then got into scoring position after a successful bunt by Gabe Yonto and an error IU Kokomo. Hamilton and Yonto both scored two at-bats later when Kasen Parks hit a two-out single to left field. 

IU Kokomo scored the next run in the bottom of the seventh via a lead off solo home run. The Cougars made another push in the eighth and ninth. Kokomo stranded runners on first and second in the eighth, then stranded runners on first and second again in the ninth.  

On the mound, the Grenadiers used eight different pitchers. Tucker Shalley got the start, pitching 2.0 innings, allowing zero runs on two hits and a pair of strikeouts. Matt Cornell was credited with the win, and Alston Whitworth earned his fifth save of the season.  

The Grenadiers finish the 2026 regular season with an overall record of 35-14 and a 22-5 record in River States Conference play. IU Southeast's next outing will be in game one of the 2026 River States Conference Tournament. They will take on No. 6 IU Kokomo on Thursday at 11 A.M. in Chillicothe, Ohio.
