NAIA honors spring sports Scholar-Athletes

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Officials of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released their honorees for spring sports. IU Southeast had student-athletes from softball, baseball, men's golf, women's tennis, and men's tennis recognized for their hard work in the classroom.  

For a student-athlete to qualify for NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for their sport, and must have attended their institution for at least one full year.  

Softball had ten honorees, the most of any IU Southeast spring sport. Softball's 2026 Scholar-Athletes are Alaina Winzeler, Emily Wolf, Emma Davis, Grace Stapleton, Haley Fuhr, Kaityln Chitwood, Lillian Mackey, McKenzie Walters, Raycee Stallings, and Sofia Guy.  

Baseball had six academic honorees. They are Coulter Hamilton, Gavin Gentry, Jackson Lorenz, Joel Johnson, Masen Moravec, and Slade Douthett.  

Men's tennis' honorees were Paxton Evitts and Trey Gutgsell.  

Women's tennis and men's golf had one honoree each. Kate Halbig represented women's tennis, and Gabe Lamb represented men's golf.
