LEWISTON, Idaho – IU Southeast baseball's run at the 2026 Avista NAIA World Series came to an end Wednesday afternoon after a 10-3 loss to No. 8 Tennessee Wesleyan in Game 13.
Tennessee Wesleyan opened the scoring in their half of the first after hitting a one-out single. One frame later, the Grenadiers put two runners on after Gabe Yonto hit a two-out single, and Kasen Parks was hit by a pitch. The Grenadiers came up empty handed, however.
Two innings later, the Bulldogs added three more runs after recording two hits and taking advantage of two fielding errors by IU Southeast. TWU led 4-0 after three innings. The Grenadiers finally got on the board and made a push three innings later in the top of the sixth.
Coulter Hamilton got the rally started with a double, then advanced to third after a productive out by Trevor Goodwin. Bryson Arnette, Kevin Moore, and Caden Lockwood all hit back-to-back-to-back singles and cut TWU's lead to 4-2.
IU Southeast got another run back after Yonto reached via fielding error. After Yonto reached base, Parks was hit by a pitch to load the bases with two outs. The Grenadiers would strand three runners but got three runs back and cut Tennessee Wesleyan's lead to one run.
The Grenadiers went down in order in the seventh, then left one runner stranded in the eighth. One frame later, the Bulldogs put the game out of reach. TWU scored six runs on five hits while the Grenadiers committed two fielding errors and led 10-3 after eight innings.
Kannon Stull led off the ninth with a pinch-hit infield single. Joel Johnson flew out to center for the first out, then the game ended after a 6-4-3 double play.
With Wednesday's loss, the 2026 season comes to an end. The Grenadiers finished the season with a final record of 44-16, the most wins since 2021. IU Southeast also had their best finish and run at the tournament, winning their first two games and coming in fifth place.
