GEORGETOWN, Ky. – IU Southeast volleyball fell 3-1 on the road at Georgetown College Tuesday night.
Avynn Belding led IU Southeast with a game-high 17 kills and Nicole Stratford had 15 kills. Belding also tied Lake Butiste in serving aces with three. Carly Mason led IU Southeast in assists (38) and digs (16).
The Grenadiers drop to 4-8 (1-0 RSC) on the year and will be back in action Friday night in New Albany for their 2026 home opener against Brescia. The match between the Grenadiers and the Bearcats is set for 6:00 p.m. at the IUS Activities Building.
Set 1: IU Southeast 29, Georgetown 27
The Tigers led 19-16 late in the first set before the Grenadiers went on a 5-1 run to take the lead. IU Southeast would then go up 24-22, but then Georgetown rattled off three in a row to enter extended play. After the Tigers took a 25-24 lead, the Grenadiers went on a 5-2 run to take set one 29-27.
Set 2: Georgetown 25, IU Southeast 20
Georgetown led 14-11, then IU Southeast took the lead after a 4-0 run. The Grenadiers' lead was short-lived, however, because Georgetown roared back with a 5-1 run to go up 20-16. IU Southeast got the score within one multiple times but could not tie the set.
Set 3: Georgetown 25, IU Southeast 21
Back-to-back attacking errors by the Tigers tied the score at 8-8 early in the third. Georgetown then went on a 4-0 run. IU Southeast slowly but surely chipped away at the Tigers' lead before tying the score at 20-20. Despite tying the game, the Grenadiers would fall in set three after a 5-1 Georgetown run to close out the set.
Set 4: Georgetown 25, IU Southeast 22
Trailing 2-1 in the match, the Grenadiers got off to a good start in set four and held a 20-16 lead late in the set. The Grenadiers were unable to hold the lead as the Tigers would go on a 9-2 run to close out the set and the match.
