NEW ALBANY, Ind. - IU Southeast men's tennis dropped to 0-2 after a 6-1 home loss to Hanover College Sunday.
Trey Gutgsell and Elijah Brosmer opened doubles play with a 7-5 win over Hanover's Jake Fascione and Lucas Silveira. The Grenadiers secured the doubles team point after DJ Hall and Paxton Evitts won 6-2 over Francisco Pacheco and Sebastian Vogel. The Panthers would take the final doubles match after Chase Richardson and Jack Dybwad won 6-2 over Brennan Cooper and Connor Critchfield.
Brosmer opened the singles matches with a 2-6, 3-6 loss to Pacheco, and then Gutgsell fell 1-6, 4-6 to Vogel. The Panthers took a 3-1 match lead after Silveira won 6-3, 6-3 over Critchfield. Hanover secured the match after Dybwad outlasted Hall. Hall took the first set 7-6, but then fell 2-6, 5-7. The Panthers took the last two singles matches, with Burnette winning in three sets over Evitts and Ludvigsson beat Campbell.
IU Southeast men's tennis will be back in action on Wednesday for the ITA Regionals.
