COLUMBUS, Ind. - IU Southeast volleyball improved to 3-0 in River States Conference play after a 3-1 road victory over IU Columbus Saturday.
Nicole Stratford led IU Southeast with 12 kills, followed by Avynn Belding with 11. Ella Davidson led the Grenadiers in digs (14) and serving aces (2). Jordan Vaughan had 4.0 blocks, and Raegan Glover had 3.0. Carly Mason had 18 assists, and Esther Woodward had 11.
The Grenadiers are 6-9 (3-0 RSC) following Saturday's victory over the Crimson Pride. Next up for IU Southeast volleyball is a Friday night road match at IU Kokomo. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
Set 1: IU Columbus 25, IU Southeast 19
The Crimson Pride jumped out to an early 6-1 lead, but the Grenadiers scored four straight points to cut the lead to one. IUC held a consistent 2–4-point lead for most of the set and led 17-15 midway in the first. The Crimson Pride would go on a 5-0 run and would go on to win set one.
Set 2: IU Southeast 25, IU Columbus 12
Set two saw the Grenadiers scored six of the first eight points, then the Crimson Pride scored five of the next seven. Leading 8-7, the Grenadiers went on an 11-1 run to put the set away and tie the match score at 1-1.
Set 3: IU Southeast 25, IU Columbus 23
Trailing 16-13 midway through set three, IU Southeast went on an 8-2 run to go up 21-18. IUC got within one point multiple times, but the Grenadiers were able to hold on and stave off the Crimson Pride's comeback bid. The Grenadiers won the set 25-23 and took a 2-1 match lead.
Set 4: IU Southeast 25, IU Columbus 17
The Grenadiers jumped out to a commanding, 13-4 lead early in the set. IU Columbus roared back with an 8-1 run to cut the Grenadiers' lead to 14-12. Later, after a kill by Stratford, the Grenadiers led 19-16. IU Southeast would go on a 6-1 run to close out the set and give the Grenadiers a 3-1 match victory.
