UPLAND, Ind. - IU Southeast volleyball wrapped up the AMF Memorial Tournament with a 3-0 loss to Huntington University Saturday morning.
The Grenadiers went 0-3 at the AMF Memorial Tournament and are 3-7 overall. Next up for IU Southeast is a trip to Grayson, Ky., for their RSC opening match against Kentucky Christian on Friday night.
Set 1: Huntington 25, IU Southeast 21
The Grenadiers jumped out to an early 8-3 lead, but the Foresters countered with a 14-3 run to go up 17-11. IU Southeast then scored three in a row to cut the lead to 17-14, but a Grenadier serving error and a pair of serving aces put the Foresters back up six points. Huntington would go onto win the set 25-21.
Set 2: Huntington 25, IU Southeast 21
Huntington scored three of the first four points, then IU Southeast rattled off six of the next seven points. The teams took turns trading points until Huntington went on a small run to go up 18-15. The Grenadiers responded with a 4-1 run to knot the score at 19-19. Despite the momentum, the Foresters won the set after going on a 6-2 run to take set two.
Set 3: Huntington 25, IU Southeast 9
Huntington held a 2-0 lead in the match and got off to a fast start in the third set. The Foresters scored 11 of the first 16 points and did not let the Grenadiers get back in it. IU Southeast would go on to lose set three 25-9, and lost the match 3-0.
Nicole Stratford led the Grenadiers with ten kills, followed by Avynn Belding with seven and Raegan Glover with five. Belding and Glover, along with Jordan Vaughan, all had 2.0 blocks each. Carly Mason had 24 assists and led the Grenadier defense with ten digs.
