NEW ALBANY, Ind. - Indiana University Southeast announced today that it will host the 3rd Annual Sheraton Riverside Hotel Joe B. and Denny Classic presented by Fazoli's, Norton Healthcare and Coca-Cola beginning on Friday, November 6.
The two-day classic will feature four college basketball teams from the region. Union (Ky.) College and Ivy Tech (Indianapolis) will kick off the classic at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6 in the Southeast Activities Building on the IU Southeast campus.
Later on Friday evening at approximately 8 p.m. the IU Southeast Grenadiers will host the Mid-Continent University Cougars in the nightcap game.
The Grenadiers, led by former University of Louisville player and third year head coach Wiley Brown, will face-off against the Cougars, led by former University of Kentucky player and current head coach Winston Bennett.
Day two of the classic will also feature two games. Union College will take on Mid-Continent at 1 p.m. and IU Southeast will finish up the classic by taking on Ivy Tech at 3 p.m.
Former University of Louisville Men's Basketball Head Coach, Denny Crum plans to be in attendance during part of the first and second games on Friday (Nov. 6) to sign autographs for fans. Former University of Kentucky Head Coach Joe B. Hall will not be in attendance for this year's tournament as he has previously arranged family obligations.
The pre-game meet and greet with Coach Crum will begin Friday night at 7 p.m. on the concourse level of the Southeast Activities Building. Coach Crum will be available tosign memorabilia for fans for about an hour.
IU Southeast will also honor last year's KIAC Champion and NAIA National Tournament Sweet Sixteen men's basketball team with a short ring ceremony prior to the 8 p.m. game with Mid-Continent.
Doors will open at 5:00 p.m. on Friday and 12:00 noon on Saturday. Ticket prices for the event are $7 for adult general admission and free of charge for children 12 years old or younger. IU Southeast season tickets can also be purchased at the door for $25.
