NEW ALBANY, Ind. - The No. 24-ranked IU Southeast men's basketball team defeated Purdue North Central 88-60 on Saturday afternoon in the finale of the IU/PU Challenge.
The victory gave head coach
Wiley Brown his 100
th career victory.
The Grenadiers (4-1) were led by
Joe Lawson's energy and tough play off the bench. Lawson had 14 points and four rebounds as well as four blocks.
Four Grenadiers scored in double figures as Lawson was joined by
Haris Batalevic with 13,
Brandon Dunaway's 11 and
Brice Mitchell's 10 points.
IU Southeast only led 35-28 at halftime but were dominant to start the second half. The Grenadiers outscored PNC 53-32 in the final 20 minutes.
IU Southeast held the Panthers (0-4) to 35 percent shooting for the game and forced 21 turnovers.
Indiana University East (5-1) won the first game of the day 90-77 over Purdue-Calumet. Tyler Fangman had 20 points for the IU East and Alex Richmond had 25 points in a losing effort.
With a four-game sweep, the Indiana University schools won the challenge for the third straight time.
As part of the IU-PU Challenge, an all-tournament team was announced on Saturday. The team is listed below:
