NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Four Grenadiers scored in double figures to lead IU Southeast to a 63-54 win in the season opener..

Heather Wheat and Megan Cureton each scored 13 points, Mary Dye added 11 and Andrea Owen had a huge game off the bench with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

The Grenadiers swarming defense forced 23 turnovers and held the Eagles to just 36 percent shooting and 14 percent from behind-the-arc.

IU Southeast led 33-27 at halftime before opening a 15-point lead at the 14:30 mark of the second half. The Eagles cut the lead to five before IU Southeast hit free throws to secure the win.

The Grenadiers did not shoot well, just 30 percent for the game but were able to get timely buckets down the stretch.

Beth Moorman led the Eagles with 18 points and Amanda Baute had 10 points and 15 rebounds.

The Grenadiers host Union College on Saturday at 4 p.m. after the men's home opener against IU South Bend at 2 p.m.
