NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast women's basketball team used a torrid second half offensively to pull away from Kentucky Christian and win 84-66 on Monday night.
Heather Wheat led the Grenadiers with 22 points, Megan Cureton added 19 and Bridgette Jones had 16 points on five-of-seven shooting from three-point range.
The Grenadiers (10-9) jumped out to a 13-point lead midway through the first half before the Lady Knights were able to cut it to a 37-33 at halftime. Senior guard Tanya Bowens had 16 points in the first half to keep it close. She finished with a game-high 30 points.
IU Southeast led 45-40 in the second before an 18-4 run put the game away.
IU Southeast shot 58 percent from the field in the second half.
The Grenadiers head to Alice Lloyd College on Saturday at 2 p.m.
