NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast women's basketball team used a fast start to defeat St. Mary-of-the-Woods 104-79 on Tuesday.

The Grenadiers jumped out to a 40-15 lead 13 minutes into the game. They did not allow SMWC to break the 20-point mark until the 2:04 mark of the first half.

Megan Cureton led the way for the Grenadiers with 17 points. Heather Wheat had 16 and Jade Spaulding added 13.

IU Southeast (2-0) never trailed and led by as many as 33 in the game. The Grenadiers dominated the paint and outscored the Pomeroys 72-24 in the paint. They shot 55 percent from the field in the game.

The Grenadiers were able to break the full-court press that the Pomeroys used which led to 16 fast break points and high percentage shots.

Tara Parmer had 14 points to lead SMWC.

IU Southeast is back in action on Nov. 15 when they host Malone College at 1 p.m.
