NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast women's basketball team defeated Berea College 64-46 on Saturday and clinched the No. 4 seed in the KIAC Tournament.
Megan Cureton led the Grenadiers with 17 points and Heather Wheat added 16 points, seven rebounds and five assists.
IU Southeast's offense started strong in the first half. The Grenadiers led 41-24 at halftime behind the play of Cureton and Wheat who combined for 23 of the half's 41 points.
Berea was able to cut the lead down to 43-34 with 10:58 left in the game but IU Southeast would not allow Berea to get closer.
Erika Parks led the Mountaineers with 17 points. Johnesha Warren, who was averaging 18.2 points per game on the season,w as held to just six points.
The Grenadiers (15-10, 10-5 KIAC) could improve on their seeding in the upcoming KIAC tournament depending on the results of the final week of play.
IU Southeast travels to Brescia on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
