NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The No.2-ranked IU Southeast men's basketball team sent its seniors off in style on Senior Night with a convincing 83-64 win over Brescia University.
Seniors Kevin Mitchell and Vernon Payne each had 13 points to lead the Grenadiers. Payne also had six rebounds and five blocks. Cameron Mitchell added 11 points, Greg Magee had 10 points and Kegan Clark added nine points and six rebounds.
The Grenadiers (22-5, 16-0 KIAC) forced 12 turnovers in the first half which shut down the Bearcat offense. IU Southeast shot 50 percent from the field (15-of-30) in the first half and held Brescia to just 26 percent shooting (9-of-35).
IU Southeast led 42-23 at halftime.
The Grenadiers led by as many as 22 points in the second and did not allow Brescia to get closer than 13 points in the final frame. The Grenadiers controlled the area around the basket, and had 12 blocks in the contest.
Austin Morris had 17 points and Decarlos Collier added 16 for the Bearcats.
The Grenadiers travel to St. Louis Pharmacy on Saturday in their final regular-season game. They open KIAC Tournament play at home on Tuesday.
