NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast women's basketball team overcame a 12-point second half deficit to defeat IU Kokomo 55-51 on Thursday.
Mary Dye had a season-high 18 points and nine rebounds to lead the Grenadiers. Heather Wheat added 10 points and four rebounds.
The Grenadiers (14-6, 5-1 KIAC) opened the game shooting just 31 percent (11-of-35) from the field and they made just 1-of-13 from three-point range.
The offense did not get on track until midway through the second half. They trailed 41-29 and then IU Southeast went on a 14-0 run to take a 43-41 lead.
Riley Kaiser made some key plays offensively and grabbed three key rebounds in the second half to help secure the win.
The Grenadier defense clamped down and allowed IU Kokomo to score 10 points in the final 10 minutes of the game.
The IU Southeast bench outscored Kokomo's 18-2 and the Grenadiers held a 42-35 advantage on the boards.
The Grenadiers head to IU East on Tuesday for an 8 p.m. contest.
