NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Parker Henes had 15 points and 10 rebounds and Jake Simpson had 14 points and six rebounds but it was not enough as IU Southeast lost 69-53 to Cumberland University.
The Grenadier offense struggled all day. IU Southeast shot just 31 percent (17-of-55) in the game.
They also committed 22 turnovers. Cumberland scored 19 points off those miscues.
Both offenses struggled in the first half and the Bulldogs led 27-25 at halftime.
The Bulldogs (6-10) got hot in the second half, outscoring IU Southeast 42-28. Cumberland jumped out to a twelve-point lead behind the play of Alex Flagler who hit a couple of big three-pointers. He had 16 points in the win.
The Grenadiers (3-9) cut the lead to 46-41 but Cumberland responded and went on a 9-2 run to seat the win.
Josh Wilkerson had 17 to lead the Bulldogs.
IU Southeast travels to Brescia on Tuesday night at 8 p.m. ET.
