Grenadiers Roll Past Pomeroys 121-79

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast women's basketball team rolled past St. Mary-of-the-Woods 121-79 in the Grenadiers' 2015 home opener on Thursday night.

The Grenadiers (2-0) scored the first 16 points of the game and held the Pomeroys scoreless for the first 4:15 of the game.

The Grenadiers led 69-38 at halftime.

Six Grenadiers scored in double figures. Annie Thomas and Michaela Harris each had 19 points to lead the Grenadiers. Josie Hockman had 17 points, Baylee Krueger had 14, Jocelyn Mousty had 12 and Halea Petro had 10.

IU Southeast outscored the Pomeroys 74-20 in the paint and 56-33 off the bench.

The Grenadiers pounded the Pomeroys on the boards 77-43. The 77 rebounds is a single-game record for IU Southeast, surpassing the Grenadiers' total of 72 against Earlham in the 1976-77 season. IU Southeast had 59 defensive rebounds which is also a new school record, breaking the record of 50 that was set against the Pomeroys last season. Mary Dye had 16 rebounds.

The Pomeroys shot 26-101 (26 percent) from the field and 13-54 (24 percent) from behind-the-arc. Tara Parmer had 20 points to lead the Pomeroys.

The Grenadiers visit Berea College on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
