Fast Start Propels Grenadiers To Road Win

GRAYSON, Ky. - The IU Southeast women's basketball team used a dominant first quarter to pick up a 66-47 over host Kentucky Christian Tuesday night.

Kentucky Christian outscored the Grenadiers 47-42 advantage in the final three periods of play. Unfortunately for the Lady Knights, it was not nearly enough to offset an explosive 24-0 run to start the contest for the Grenadiers.

With both starting guards out due to injury, IUS employed a much taller lineup with every starter 5'8 or taller. The result was a significant rebounding advantage (44-26) and a stifling interior defense that allowed just eight made two-point shots on the night.

Senior Mary Dye led the way with 25 points and 12 rebounds and junior Michaela Harris added 15 points and seven rebounds. Center Jocelyn Mousty had a game-high four assists.

The Grenadiers (3-1) will face their sternest test of the young season on Friday as they travel to Huntington University. The Foresters are currently 4-1 and rated 17th nationally.
