Mousty and Thomas Carry Grenadiers To Comeback Win

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Jocelyn Mousty and Annie Thomas had huge second-half performances to lead the Grenadiers to a 79-75 comeback win over Cincinnati Christian.

The duo combined to score 29 of the Grenadiers' 49 second-half points. Mousty finished with 18 points and Thomas had 17. Josie Hockman had 10 of her 12 points in the first half to keep IU Southeast in the game. Mary Dye had 10 points and 11 rebounds.

The Grenadiers (5-6, 2-1 KIAC) trailed by six with 2:45 to play. Mousty was able to get her own miss and score on the putback. After CCU's Aly Balser made one of two free throws, Thomas responded by driving to the basket and getting the basket and the foul. She hit the free throw to make it 70-68.

After a CCU basket, Thomas hit a jumper and then got a steal in the backcourt. Mousty hit a long jumper to take the lead 74-72. Mousty and Thomas combined to hit five-of-six free throws the rest of the way to pick up the victory.

IU Southeast shot just 35 percent (12-of-34) in the first half, but found their offensive stroke in the second half shooting 53 percent (18-of-34) from the field.

The Grenadiers outscored the Eagles 44-32 in the paint.

Baylee Bennett had a huge game for CCU, scoring 27 points.

With the win, the Grenadier women's basketball program earned its 600th victory in program history. The overall record is now 600-528.

The Grenadiers travel to Asbury on January 5.
