NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Jake Simpson had 27 points but IU Southeast could not get defensive stops to defeat Brescia.
The Grenadiers (7-15, 4-7 KIAC) struggled to get their offense going in the first half and trailed 39-31 at halftime. IU Southeast allowed the Bearcats to shoot 17-of-32 (53 percent) from the field in the first half.
The IU Southeast offense was more efficient in the second half but it could not overcome the defensive miscues.
The Grenadiers were outscored in the paint 40-28 in the game.
Joe Jackson had nine points and four rebounds for IU Southeast.
The Grenadiers host Asbury at 2 p.m. Saturday on Homecoming.
