Four Grenadiers Score In Double Figures As IUS Defeats Alice Lloyd

NEW ALBANY, Ind. –Smothering defense and a strong performance from the IU Southeast bench helped the Grenadiers defeat Alice Lloyd on Saturday, snapping a four-game losing streak.

Myles Harvey had 19 points off the bench for IU Southeast. Kerry Smith and Robert Sawyer each had 16 and Demetrius Stanton added 12 points.

The Grenadiers (6-15, 2-6 KIAC) used a 13-0 26-11 with five minutes left in the first half, but the Eagles cut the lead to 30-23 at halftime. Sawyer had 11 points and six rebounds in the first half.

Alice Lloyd cut the lead to 48-40 with nine minutes left but IU Southeast responded with a 17-8 run to move the margin to 65-48 with 5:45 left.

Kerry Smith scored 12 of his 16 and Harvey had 11 in the second half.

The Grenadier bench outscored Alice Lloyd 43-9 in the contest.

IU Southeast held Alice Lloyd to just 28 percent shooting for the game.

The game was physical throughout, with 57 personal fouls called, including 34 in the second half. The Grenadiers capitalized, shooting 81 percent (27-of-33) from the line.

IU Southeast travels to IU Kokomo Tuesday at 7 p.m.
