NEW ALBANY, Ind. – After winning eight in a row, IU Southeast dropped a 78-65 decision to University of the Cumberlands Saturday.

Demetrius Stanton had 16 points, Robert Sawyer added 12 points and seven rebounds and Joe Ferree had 10 points.

University of the Cumberlands (11-3) led 26-20 with three minutes to play in the first half before the Grenadiers closed on a 10-3 run to take the lead into halftime.

Demetrius Stanton hit a three-quarter court shot at the buzzer to give IU Southeast the lead.

The Grenadiers (8-2) shot just 4-of-14 from three-point range and left points off the board at the free-throw line where they shot 17-of-30 and just 7-of-16 in the second half.

IU Southeast trailed 49-45 with nine minutes left in the game but the Patriots responded with a 15-5run to put the game out of reach.

The game was physical throughout with 49 personal fouls called in the game.

IU Southeast travels to Alice Lloyd College Tuesday at 4 p.m.
