NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast women's basketball team fell 68-46 to Roosevelt (Ill.) University on Saturday to open the 2017-18 season.

Josie Hockman and Ashley Johnson each had 10 points to lead the Grenadiers.

IU Southeast trailed 27-23 at halftime as the Lakers closed the half on a 7-0 run.

In the second half the Roosevelt offense capitalized on turnovers and took advantage in the paint. They outscored the Grenadiers 41-23 in the final 20 minutes and dominated the paint in the contest 46-24.

The Lakers shot 55 percent (16-of-29) in the second half and held IU Southeast to 9-of-29 shooting from the field.

Paige Gallimore had a game-high 23 points for Roosevelt and Jasmine Albert added 21 points and 13 rebounds.

IU Southeast travels to Southeast Missouri State on Friday for an exhibition at 7:30 p.m. ET.
