NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The No. 19-ranked IU Southeast men's basketball team opened the day with a 13-0 run and did not look back defeating Miami-Middletown 88-63.
Jamie Johnson had 17 points to lead the Grenadiers. Jacob Mills added 14 points and Lukas Burkman had 10 points in his home debut.
IU Southeast (2-1) forced 34 turnovers and outscored Miami-Middletown 32-2 off of turnovers.
The Grenadiers held the Thunderhawks scoreless for the first three minutes of the contest and led 13-0 before Eli Staton scored off of an offensive putback.
The Grenadiers' up-tempo attack led to 10 fast-break points in addition to forcing the turnovers.
IU Southeast held Miami-Middletown to 31 percent shooting from the field (10-of-32) in the first half while shooting 53 percent from the field which blew the game open early. The Grenadiers were dominant in the paint, outscoring Miami-Middletown 52-26 in the contest.
Tony Boddie had 18 points off the bench for Miami-Middletown and Staton added 16 points and eight rebounds.
Every Grenadier who played scored at least two points in the contest.
IU Southeast hosts Simmons College Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
