No. 25 IU Southeast Gets Past Brescia 100-92

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Four Grenadiers scored in double-figures and IU Southeast withstood a second-half rally to defeat Brescia 100-92 on Thursday.

Joe Jackson had 24 points, including 18 in the second half to lead the Grenadiers. Jamie Johnson and Demetrius Stanton each had 17 points and Cody Young added 10.

Demetrius Stanton became the 29th player in school history to surpass 1,000 career points. He hit a three-point field goal with 2:23 left in the first half to score his 1,002 point.

The Grenadiers (6-5, 1-1 RSC) used a 15-2 run to start the second half to pull away from the Bearcats. IU Southeast shot 56 percent from the field in the second half. The Grenadiers were carried by Jackson who scored 18 points in the second half, Stanton had 14 and Johnson added 13 in the final 20 minutes.

IU Southeast led by as many as 16 in the second half but saw their lead cut to 89-83 with 2:50 to play.

IU Southeast was able to hit their free throws to secure the win.

The Grenadiers host University of the Cumberlands Dec. 9 at 3 p.m.
