Jackson Surpasses 1,000 Points; Six Grenadiers Score In Double Figures In Win

PITTSBURGH – The IU Southeast offense continued to click as six Grenadiers scored in double figures, led by Jamie Johnson's 33 points, as IU Southeast defeated Point Park 101-74 on Friday.

Senior forward Joe Jackson, a Fern Creek product, surpassed the 1,000 career point mark with a layup in the second half. Jackson is the 30th 1,000 point scorer in Grenadier men's basketball history.

Kerry Smith and Jackson each had 14 points in the game, Nick Tinsley had 13 points and Demetrius Stanton and Jared Osborne each added 10 points.

The Grenadiers (13-6, 7-2 RSC) led 39-37 at halftime but opened the second half on a 30-11 run. Jamie Johnson scored 24 of his 33 points in the second half on 8-of-11 shooting from the field and Joe Jackson and Jared Osborne each had 10 points in the final period of play.

Both teams shot the ball well, with IU Southeast shooting 49 percent from the field and Point Park shooting 44 percent from the field in the contest.

IU Southeast dominated in fast-break points 18-2 and doubled up the Pioneers in the paint 32-16.

The Grenadiers host Ohio Christian Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
