NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Four Grenadiers scored in double figures and a strong second half on both ends of the court helped IU Southeast defeat West Virginia Tech on Thursday.
Demetrius Stanton had 20 points, Cody Young had 19 points and eight rebounds, Kerry Smith had 11 points and Joe Jackson added 10 points, seven rebounds and five blocks.
The Grenadiers (10-5, 4-1 RSC) trailed 37-33 at halftime. In the second half, the Grenadiers were good defensively and got their offensive running more smoothly.
Stanton scored 15 of his 20 points in the second half.
IU Southeast shot 50 percent from the field (14-28) in the second half and shot 5-of-14 from three-point range (36 percent). The Grenadiers held West Virgina Tech to 33 percent shooting from the field in the final 20 minutes.
IU Southeast led 49-48 with 9:16 to play before going on an 18-6 run to put the game away.
The Grenadiers host Rio Grande Saturday at 3 p.m
