Farris Earns 500th Career Victory With Win Over WVU Tech

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast women's basketball team used a dominant second half performance to defeat West Virginia Tech 80-54 on Thursday to give head coach Robin Farris his 500th career win.

Annie Thomas had 18 points and Baylee Krueger added 17 points, seven rebounds and five blocks to lead IU Southeast.

The Grenadiers (9-5, 3-2 RSC) outscored the Golden Bears 48-24 in the second half and pulled away by opening the fourth quarter on a 14-2 run.

IU Southeast opened the game on a 14-2 run but West Virginia Tech roared back to trail 32-30 at halftime.

The Grenadiers forced 19 turnovers in the game but really clamped down defensively in the second half. They held WVU Tech to 28 percent shooting from the field and just 18 percent from three-point range. IU Southeast outscored the Golden Bears 40-15 in bench points and 38-22 in the paint for the game.

IU Southeast head coach Robin Farris becomes the fourth active NAIA Division II head coach with 500 or more career wins.

The Grenadiers host RSC East Division leader Rio Grande on Saturday at 1 p.m.
