NEW ALBANY, Ind. – A red-hot IU Southeast offense dominated Rio Grande Saturday as the Grenadiers rolled past the RedStorm 103-72.
Six Grenadiers scored in double figures, led by Jared Osborne's career-high 21 points. Cody Young had 20 points and five rebounds, Kerry Smith, Jacob Mills and Demetrius Stanton each had 14 points and Nick Tinsley had 10 points.
IU Southeast (11-5, 5-1 RSC) shot a sizzling 66 percent from three-point range for the contest on 21-of-32 shooting. Osborne was 5-of-6 from behind-the-arc and Kerry Smith and Jacob Mills each hit four three-pointers.
The Grenadiers were also able to capitalize on 20 Rio Grande turnovers which led to 23 points for the Grenadiers.
The game was tied at 21 with nine minutes to play in the first half but IU Southeast closed the frame by scoring 30 of the 45 points in the half. Cody Young was dominant both in the paint and behind-the-arc in the first half as he scored 16 of his 20 points in the opening 20 minutes.
Then Osborne took over in the second half by shooting 6-of-8 from the field and 4-of-5 from three-point range for 18 of his 21 points.
The Grenadiers led by as many as 31 points in the contest.
IU Southeast visits IU Kokomo Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
