Dominant Fourth Quarter Sends IU Southeast Past Alice Lloyd College

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – After trailing by as many as 11 points, a dominant fourth quarter at both ends of the court sent IU Southeast to an 81-69 win over Alice Lloyd College on Tuesday to open River States Conference play.

In the first half, 11 IU Southeast turnovers helped Alice Lloyd take a 15-5 advantage in points off of turnovers and the Eagles extended their lead to 46-35 late in teh a 46-40 lead at halftime.

IU Southeast (5-1, 1-0 RSC) did not take its first lead in the contest until the 5:20 mark of the third quarter when Madi Woods hit a jump shot. The Grenadiers opened the third quarter on a 9-2 run to take the lead.

With the score tied at 64 in the fourth quarter, the Grenadiers closed the game a 17-5 run. They put together consecutive defensive stops

IU Southeast outscored the Eagles 21-8 in the fourth quarter to pull away for the victory. They held Alice Lloyd to 9-of-32 shooting (28 percent) in the second half while committing just two turnovers.

Ariana Sandefur led IU Southeast with 17 points, including 13 in the second half, and six rebounds, Kelsi Scott had 16 points and five rebounds, Baylee Krueger had 14 points and Madi Woods had 10 points and a game-high eight rebounds.

The Grenadiers travel to Asbury University Saturday at 1 p.m.
