NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Four Grenadiers scored in double figures and the IU Southeast offense dominated Alice Lloyd in the paint to defeat the Eagles on Tuesday.
The Grenadiers (17-7, 11-3 RSC) shot 53 percent in the contest and outscored Alice Lloyd 48-28 in the paint.
Jamie Johnson had 24 points to lead the Grenadiers. Dechaun Lewis had 15 points and six rebounds and Demetrius Stanton and Joe Jackson each had 12 points.
Alice Lloyd (14-10, 6-8 RSC) led 10-4 three minutes into the game but IU Southeast responded by using a 30-12 run to take a lead that they would not relinquish. Jamie Johnson had 15 of his 24 points in the first half to get the Grenadiers back in the game.
IU Southeast committed 16 second-half turnovers which helped the Eagles cut the lead to 70-63 with 10 minutes to play. Jacob Mills completed a three-point play and then hit a three-pointer, Stanton scored and Jackson hit two free throws as IU Southeast went on a 10-0 run to put the game out of reach.
IU Southeast visits Asbury University Saturday at 3 p.m.
