NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Midway University defeated IU Southeast 67-60 on Thursday.
Kelsi Scott had 13 points and seven rebounds, Josie Hockman had 12 points and Lauren Lambdin added 10 points.
The Grenadiers (8-9, 3-4 RSC) fell behind 14-5 to open the contest but cut the lead to 31-29 at halftime. Scott sparked the offense by scoring 11 points in the first half.
However, the Grenadier offense faded in the third quarter. They were outscored 17-8 and did not connect on a field goal until the 3:57 mark of the period.
In the fourth quarter, a three-point field goal by Allyson Callahan extended the Midway lead to 14 but the Grenadiers were able to cut the lead to 62-56 when Lauren Lambdin connected on a three-pointer with just over two minutes to play. Lambdin had seven of her 10 points in the second half to get IU Southeast back in the game.
But turnovers down the stretch doomed IU Southeast and Midway was able to hit their free-throws to secure the win.
Allyson Callahan and Jill Enix each had 14 to points to lead the Eagles, who improved to 6-8, 2-5 RSC.
IU Southeast hosts Cincinnati Christian Saturday at 1 p.m.
