NEW ALBANY, Ind. – A big second half allowed IU Southeast to pull away and defeat Oakland City 82-60 on Monday, snapping a six-game losing streak for the Grenadiers.
Lauren Lambdin had 21 points and seven assists to lead the Grenadiers. Josie Hockman added 17 points and six rebounds and Kirstie Henn added 11 points.
The Grenadiers (9-10) led 33-27 at halftime after tight first half. Oakland City (6-5) led 18-10 late in the first quarter but IU Southeast outscored the Lady Oaks 19-9 in the second quarter to take the lead into halftime.
IU Southeast opened the third quarter on a 10-2 run to take control of the contest. The Grenadiers outscored Oakland City 27-13 in the frame. Lauren Lambdin scored 12 of her 21 points in the third quarter and Hockman recorded 11 of her 17 in the third quarter to carry the Grenadiers to double-digit lead.
IU Southeast shot 52 percent from the field in the second half and were 6-of-11 from three-point range in the final 20 minutes. They held Oakland City to 31 percent shooting from the field and 27 percent from three-point range in the game.
The Grenadiers host Carlow University Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
