Hockman and Scott Send Grenadiers Past Point Park 79-67

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Josie Hockman had 24 points and Kelsi Scott had 22 points and 12 rebounds to lead IU Southeast past Point Park 79-67 on Saturday.

The Grenadiers (11-10, 5-5 RSC) were dominant in the paint in the contest, outscoring Point Park 44-16. Scott was almost unstoppable offensively, shooting 7-of-10 from the field and 7-of-11 from free-throw line. Hockman was able to catch the ball at the free throw line and make good drives to the basket for the majority of her points as well.

Kirstie Henn had 11 points and 10 rebounds and Lauren Lambdin added 11 points for the Grenadiers. Michelle Burns had 17 points to lead Point Park and Kaitlyn Smith added 14.

Point Park (8-13, 4-6 RSC) stayed in the game throughout the first half by connecting on three-point shots. The Pioneers shot 6-of-17 from behind-the-arc in the first half. Tyra James and Abbey Davis each hit two three-pointers in the first half.

IU Southeast led 41-39 at halftime. Hockman and Scott combined to record 29 of the 41 points in the first half.

In the second half, Lauren Lambdin scored eight of her 11 points to help lead and balanced scoring attack and Kirstie Henn had six points and eight rebounds in the second half.

IU Southeast was not able to pull away until the fourth quarter. Back-to-back three-pointers by Hockman and Madi Woods gave the Grenadiers a 70-59 lead early in the fourth and Point Park would not get closer than nine points in the remainder of the game.

Saturday's contest was rescheduled to 10 a.m. to allow Point Park to travel back to Pittsburgh before the expected winter weather arrived in the region.

The Grenadiers travel to Ohio Christian Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
