NEW ALBANY, Ind. – IU Kokomo never trailed en route to a 69-66 win over IU Southeast on Tuesday.

Lakyn Gulley 16 points and Tia Chambers added 14 points and nine rebounds to lead IU Kokomo. Kelsi Scott had 18 points and 14 rebounds in the loss. Ariana Sandefur had 15 points and Madi Woods added 14 for IU Southeast.

The Cougars (9-4, 5-1 RSC) led 19-9 at the end of the first quarter as the Grenadier offense could not get on track.

IU Southeast (8-8, 3-3 RSC) cut the lead to 35-29 behind the play of Natalie Fichter who hit two three-pointers and Scott who had six points and five rebounds in the second quarter.

The Grenadiers ended the third quarter down by three and were not able to tie it in the fourth. They trailed 67-56 before three-pointers by Woods and Sandefur made it a one possession game with just over a minute to play.

After Tia Chambers hit two free throws, Sandefur hit another three-pointer with six seconds to play. A turnover by Brynda Krueger as she stepped over the baseline inbounding the ball gave IU Southeast a chance but a three-point try by Fichter was short.
