NEW ALBANY, Ind. – IU Southeast shot 60 percent from the field and led by as many as 59 points as the Grenadiers defeated Miami-Middletown 118-62 on Sunday.
IU Southeast (2-0) outscored the Thunderhawks 24-5 in the first six minutes of the contest and did not look back, extending the lead to 60-28 at halftime.
Every Grenadier who entered the game recorded at least two points and eight Grenadiers were in double figures. IU Southeast was paced by 18 points off of the bench from Maurice Tolley. Antonio Rogers and Anthony Wales Jr. each had 14 points. Jared Osborne, Glenn Hill and Tamaje Blackwell each had 13 points Kereion Douglas added 12 points. David Burton recorded his second-straight double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
A swarming Grenadier defense forced 31 turnovers, including 17 in the first half, and outscored the Thunderhawks 42-7 off of turnovers. They also pounded Miami-Middletown in the paint 64-22 and the IU Southeast bench was dominant, outscoring Miami-Middletown 55-23.
IU Southeast hosts Simmons College of Kentucky Saturday at 3 p.m. on Homecoming.
