WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – Josie Woods had 11 points and seven rebounds and Natalie Fichter had 11 points and six rebounds but the rest of the Grenadier offense could not get going in a 72-54 loss to the University of the Cumberlands.

The Grenadiers (9-4) shot just 31 percent from the field in the contest and were made just seven field goals in the second half. They were also done in by 23 turnovers on the day.

IU Southeast fell behind by as many as 19 points in the first half but continued to battle and cut the lead to 44-37 early in the third quarter after trailing 44-31 at halftime. But the Patriots (11-2) answered with a 12-6 run to close the quarter and take a 56-43 lead to the fourth quarter.

Back-to-back three-pointers by Madi Woods and Emmy Ralph cut the lead to seven once again. A jumper by Silvia Veloso and an answer by Ralph made it a 58-51 lead for the Patriots with just under nine minutes to play.

That would be as close as the Grenadiers would get as the Patriots closed the game on a 14-3 run.
